Superfoods in the Banana Spinach Smoothie
It is so fun to experiment with different smoothie recipes and discover combinations that are both cohesive and jam-packed with nutrients. The best part about a smoothie is that you can sneak in nutritious foods you wouldn’t otherwise eat without really tasting them.
Possible health benefits to the super foods in this recipe:
- SPINACH: important for skin, nail, and bone health. Lowers cancer risk. Provides protein, iron, vitamins and minerals.
- FLAX SEEDS: May help lower diabetes, cancer, heart disease, Rich sourse of healthy fats, antioxidants, and fiber.
TIPS:
- I recommend slicing and freezing the banana. Otherwise, everything besides yogurt is room temperature and smoothie won’t be very cold.
- You can pre-portion these smoothies in advance. Combine all ingredients besides yogurt into Ziploc bags and keep in the freezer until you are ready to eat
- NOTE: I prefer snack size smoothies. If you are consuming the smoothie for a meal, double the portions!
