Christmas Sugar Cookies
Check out my recipe for Christmas Sugar Cookies! I love this recipe because it is extremely easy, requires no-chilling before hand, and the edges come out perfect every time! No more reindeer that look like mittens!
- 1 cup granulated white sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened, NOT melted
- 1.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp of salt
Preheat the oven to 350.
In a stand up mixer, cream butter and sugar at a moderate speed (4-5) until smooth (typically 2-3 minutes). Butter-sugar mixture should look light and fluffy, not overly liquidy/moist.
Beat in vanilla extract and egg.
In a separate medium size bowl, combine baking powder, salt, and flour. Add a little at a time into wet ingredients.
Once the dough is too thick for the stand up mixer, turn out the dough onto a well-floured countertop. Wet your hands and continue to knead the dough by hand.
Roll out the dough onto a floured surface and cut with festive cookie cutters. I roll my dough to be around ¼ inch).
Bake for 6-8 minutes. Let rest on the cookie sheet till cool, then decorate!
