Moni's Meat Sauce

Check out this recipe for my delicious meat sauce! It's extremely easy - I use a store-bought sauce and add several ingredients to take the sauce to the next level. 

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Rigatoni Pasta

Sauce

  • 1 stick butter unsalted
  • 1 clove / tsp garlic minced
  • 1 shallot minced
  • 1 lb hot Italian sausage
  • 1 lb ground beef 90% lean, 10% fat
  • 3 jars traditional pasta sauce
  • 1/2 cup parmigiano reggiano shredded
  • 1 tsp red pepper sauce

Garnishes at the end

  • extra parmigiana reggiano to garnish
  • ricotta to your liking

Instructions

  • Bring a pot of water to boiling and then add the pasta. Cook according to box instructions. 
  • In a big pot, melt the butter and add the shallots. Cook until shallots translucent. Add the garlic and cook until aromatic. Set aside
  • In the same pot, add hot Italian sausage and ground beef and brown. 
  • Add 3 jars of traditional pasta sauce, butter mixture, parmigiana reggiano, and red pepper sauce to pot. Stir on medium high heat until heated through. 
  • To serve, add pasta to a bowl, add on finished sauce, a dollop of ricotta, and a little more parmigiano regianno. Stir together and serve!
